Nature therapy
According to scientifically based studies, just an hour in the forest reduces stress hormone levels, calms you down, increases your zest for life, brings positive emotions, etc. Moreover, nature does not judge, does not overthing; natures simply exists, exactly as it is supposed to be. Being in it allows us to connect with these qualities, helps us to center ourselves, to relax and find strength. It can also provide us with space for calm reflection about ourselves, enhanced by reflecting on our inner self in relation to what is happening in nature and what we encounter there. So, do not hesitate and try a session of nature therapy in a park or forest!
Types of sessions in nature:
01 nature therapy
Nature therapy, or ecotherapy. Sessions that use all the bonuses of being in nature (calming effect; better connection to yourself; using natural elements for self-discovery) in combination with therapeutic conversation and depth psychology. That is, we will use the calming and supportive aspects of nature, talk about your current challenges and issues, and let the surrounding forest affect us. We will use natural symbolism, i.e. reflect on what are various natural elements telling you about your current situation and issues - and then transform your issues and worries into something bearable, or even nice and supportive.
My approach in nature therapy is based primarily on the concepts of Wild Mind by Bill Plotkin, the principles of Process-Oriented Psychotherapy, and training from leaders of ecopsychotherapy in the Czech Republic/Slovakia.
02
forest mind
A precisely defined concept of spending time in nature, which is not about therapy, but rather about prevention and about increasing mental well-being and resilience. During the session, you will experience a series of exercises focused on calming down, becoming present in the "here and now" moment, connecting with yourself, your senses and body; becoming aware of your own resources and good sides. This is followed by reflection and sharing. In its most classic form, it is a 1-2 hour walk/stay in the forest with 5-6 short and simple exercises of a non-physical nature.
03 pilgrimages
During an accompanied pilgrimage, you don't go as deep into the problem as in the therapy - I mean, you can go, but you doesn't have to. You formulate an intention, we set out on a pilgrimage (in places that you choose/that we agree on) and you relate to what we encounter along the way. Ideally, we go "wherever it takes us". I function as your companion, will help you find symbolism in your surroundings and support you in finding connections with your life. I am a guide and I hold the symbolic/spiritual meaning of the pilgrimage.
What does nature mean to me?
01
Calm/peace, silence or natural sounds offer an opportunity to relax, calm down and gain strength.
04
Nature is just the way it is supposed to be. It does not judge, it does not overthink; it simply exists and thats it. Staying in nature supports the connection to these qualities within us; it supports the connection to the balanced central, core, natural, essential Self.
02
For me, nature and the forest are a safe space for myself and a place that allows for a better connection to myself.
05
The possibility of self-discovery and a journey into one's own inner self in the mirror of natural elements and symbolism. It includes, for example, hugging the trees, etc. ;).
03
A fulfilling aesthetic experience of natural beauty; lived experience of harmony amongst parts of one ecosystem.
06
Especially longer hikes in the forest and in wilder conditions with overnight stays allow you to explore your limits and dark sides, step out of your comfort zone and grow. But don't worry, we don't have to do it this way; even 2-hour long session in nature can be fully beneficial and transforming.
